A Natural Element of Warmth and Healing
Copper home accessories have been bang on trend for the last few years now, and their popularity shows no sign of waning. In addition, copper offers a warmth to any setting, and with its deep rich colouration, autumn is the perfect season in which to buy your copper decor, safe in the knowledge that your investment will not be yesterday’s news headlines any time soon!
Copper accents in the home sit well within both contemporary and traditional settings, and with magnificent qualities, such as anti-bacterial properties, makes it perfect in any kitchen or bathroom space. As a lustrous metal, it can be incorporated impressively into an industrial environment, teamed with concrete and / or marble, softening a sometimes brutal finish to provide a stunning overall effect.
If you’re a fan of the metallic look, a key benefit of accessorizing your home with copper accents is that it is far easier and cheaper than going the full hog and installing copper baths, bedsteads or worktops for example. Offering the versatility and opportunity to refresh your home styling on a regular basis, copper accessories can prevent your interior from looking tired and stale.
From candle holders to toilet roll holders, coat hooks to ipad stands and magazine racks to business card holders, Copper and Blonde can design the ideal accent for any room in your home, using different treatments to create a variety of effects and finishes.
And just as an extra hook, copper is believed to be a beneficial treatment for arthritis, as well as offering other health benefits such as improving thyroid function. Many foods contain sources of copper. Did you know that oysters are apparently a very rich source of copper?
The Origins of Copper and Blonde
I started my online business Copper and Blonde in March 2016 after great deliberation on what to do with the next stage in my life; my frustration at not using my creative talents for so long. So when redundancy loomed at the end of 2015 from a mundane office job, it was now or never! I studied Illustration at university and had always loved being creative, so when I spotted an art installation of copper piping on a wall in a bar one day, I decided to take the plunge and start an online business making home accessories and gifts from copper pipe. Coincidentally my husband is a trained plumber and it seemed like fate at the time!
I began making a variety of products and set up a shop on Etsy. I sell via various platforms including Walter and May, which showcases a wide range of handmade products lovingly made by people like me. Today I work part-time for a Commercial Interiors company, which aids my creative juices, and acts as a great source of inspiration. The rest of my time is spent on Copper and Blonde. So if you’re looking for a special gift or a unique look for your home, do take a look at what I do. The list of accessories that can be made of copper piping is endless, so please watch this space for more to come!
